Merriam Plaza Library
Merriam, KS
Johnson County opened the new 15,000 SF Merriam Plaza Library in 2024. This $13.7M library features a green roof and has numerous energy-efficient features. The building’s structural design required the use of bottom-up motorized roller shades to control glare at clerestory windows.
An array of motorized shades was used at Merriam, spearheading the design was Draper’s new Gabled Bottom-Up FlexShade system; a perfect fit for the angled windows, using an ingenious and minimal spring-box system. An I/O networked system was installed for future scalability and integration into the building, allowing our system to grow throughout the life of the building.
